Bella and the Bug

My kids love their critters! They are constantly hunting for worms, which they name wormmy every time. They love to poke at all the slugs and make them curl up. We have a cup of five growing Caterpillars in the kitchen which we check every morning. We have a snake we see on our walks, and the kids always want to touch it. Isaac always seems to find the same big green frog in the back yard and will pack him around all day until I start to feel sorry for it and make him put it back in the grass. But Bella took bug loving too a whole new level when she found the biggest beetle ever and insisted it was her pet and packed it around all day! Her favorite part was it would shine purple in the sun. She loved petting it and watching it crawl around in her hand. She even brought in inside so it could watch her eat lunch. She was really sad when I made her put it back outside so she could take her nap without the beetle. I was glad to see it go.

Happy Birthday to you

Both Isaac and Bella's birthdays are in July. Bella is now 3 going on 14 and Isaac is 5 wanting to be 8 like his friend Brandon. We did a combined birthday party this year since they have the same friends and it made it easier for everyone. This year was very laid back. No crazy decorations or games that I spent all week planing. Just 11 kids playing outside, eating ice cream cake, and opening lots of presents.

Busy July

Since its almost August I decided I needed to post about all the things that happened in July. First we had a wonderful 4th of July. We celebrated with a BBQ at the Maner's with a slip-n-slide, popsicles, and fireworks. The kids had a blast playing in the water and loved the fire works.

Hurt Foot

Reuben hurt his foot playing football a few weeks ago. He pulled his arta fasha tendon in his right foot. He was home for a week with ice packs and crutches. It was a long week taking care of two kids and a hurt husband but we all survived. He is now back to work without the crutches but still limping a little bit. The doctor said it could be sore for up to 6 weeks. The kids wanted to be just like their dad so they insisted on having their feet wrapped too. Isaac took it a bit far, he insisted on laying on the couch with his foot propped up just like daddy's.

Summer has Arrived!

We have finally had some warm summer days! It feels so good to be able to go outside without a jacket on! Its been hard to convince the kids that they can put on short and t-shirts to go outside. I had to clean out all of Isaac sweats from his dresser so he would stop wearing them to bed because it was too hot! With all this sun the kids and I decided to wash the car. They were great helpers and we all had fun cleaning the car and getting wet, except for the sun burn I got. Next it was time to break out the swimming pool. We also bought the kids a new play set for their birthdays this month so we invited a few friends over to play in the water and break in the new play set.

Having a picnic in the back yard
Putting together our new play set (notice the crutches??)
Pool party!!
Isaac and his best buddy Cindy going down the slide together

Bella LOVES the swings
