Bubbles

Isaac loves playing with bubbles and had recently learned how to blow and make his own bubbles. Its really funny to see him chase the bubbles and then all of the sudden he will stop in amazement and just watch all the bubbles with his mouth wide open. Here are a few pictures of our bubble play and a funny video of Isaac trying to blow his own bubbles.

Ladybug

Today Isaac found a ladybug on the floor and was very curious about this tiny moving object. At first it was crawling on his hand then he decided he didn't like it and tried to shake it off. Then it fell onto his foot and he really didn't like that. He liked the ladybug much better when it wasn't crawling on him and played with it on the floor until it wasn't crawling any more. He then brought it to me and I told him to throw it away, but he tried to eat it instead. Yuck! He quickly spit it out and we threw it away. Poor ladybug

Helping Mom

Today I decided to be a fun mom and let Isaac help me sweep the kitchen floor. He really enjoyed having his own broom, and some how understood exactly what sweeping was. He would follow behind me and wait until the pile was big and then want to take over and kept trying to push the pile under the fridge. Reuben must have taught him that! With Isaac's help not much got swept and I had to go over it again during his nap but it was fun to see him sweep and take a few pictures of him helping.

Seattle Apartment

It's official! We have finally found an apartment in Seattle. We will be living in Queen Anne which is about 10min north of downtown Seattle. Our new apartment is super close to Reuben's job and is in a wonderful neighborhood. For those of you who have never had to find a place to live, in another state I envy you! It was not easy finding a place for 4 months that we could afford, that was close enough to Reuben's job and that was not some sort of scam. We are very lucky to have wonderful friends living in Washington who were willing to check out our apartment for us and take some pictures so we could see what we were getting into. Here are a few pictures of our summer apartment in Seattle.

Pregnancy Pictures

So here I am in all my four month pregnancy glory. I realized the other day that my family and friends not in Iowa wouldn't see me until I was nine months pregnant or had already had number two and to be honest either stage will not be the most physically faltering. So here are a few pictures of me with a cute bump. So far everything has been great and we will keep all our loved ones updated and let you know next month if it's a boy or girl.

Isaac's new Favorite Spot

Instead of the floor or the comfy couch Isaac has decided that the coffee table is the best seat in the house. He has been enjoying his new found climbing skills and I think this is why he likes the coffee table so much. He not only sits on the coffee table but hangs off the side then climbs back up with out touching the ground. He seems pretty proud of his coordination and new skills.

Playing on the Stairs

Lately Isaac has loved to play on our stairs. He climbs up and then slides down as fast as he can on his stomach. Or he will climb up too the flat part and sit and talk or just play. Usually he wants Reuben or I to come with him and share in his new found play space. He also likes to lay on the steps, which is so cute and I was finally able to get a picture of him.

Coloring

So today me and Issac decided to refine his artistic skills. Lately he has taken an interest in coloring and expressing himself and his creativity in many unique ways. Marveling at his skill words like "child-prodigy" come to mind. Actually he just loves to color. So we have proudly displayed his masterpieces in a traditional place of honor - the fridge door. When I tried to photograph him with his masterpieces he decided a quick game of peek-a-boo was proper. An obvious trait of any child prodigy.

Before I was a Mom

I was sent this wonderful poem and wanted to share it.

Before I was a Mom
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom -
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put him down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom -
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom -
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.

Isaac Decorating Cookies

This evening Isaac helped me decorate the rest of our sugar cookies. It was fun but really messy. Reuben also surprised me with flowers. We have had a great V-Day.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

For Valentines Day we went all out this year. Isaac and I made valentine cards for Grandma Ortega and Grandma Koyle and sent them a surprise in the mail. We made wonderfully yummy valentine cookies last night for a valentine’s party this morning and to share with some friends, Isaac made a cute valentines bag at his little party, and later today we are going to let Isaac decorate the rest of the sugar cookies I made. So far we have had a great V-Day.

Lots of Snow

We had quite the snow storm a few days ago and had to dig ourselves out. Reuben worked really hard clearing our sidewalks. He did have a little help from our neighbor who had a skid loader and rescued Reuben from having to dig our driveway out. With out the help of our neighbor our car would still be stuck half way up our driveway.

Our Little Fort

Just a little video of Isaac and Eli playing under the blanket. They had tons of fun hiding from each other and crawling in and out.

Big Shoes to Fill

With being sick and having a ton of snow getting out of the house has been a challenge, yet the only person who hasn’t had a problem with it is Isaac. He has found plenty of things to keep himself entertained, like all of mom’s shoes. Isaac thinks it’s really funny to walk around in big shoes. He also enjoys putting them on his hands

Sick Family

I am again apologizing for not posting. I have a really good excuse this time. First Reuben got sick with the flu last week and I was busy taking care of two helpless boys. Then I started to get a head cold which turned into the worst head cold ever!! and I also got Reuben's flu. So for the last week and a half we have been sick and sicker. So sorry if you don't see many posts this week. Hopefully we will be fully recovered and I can continue updating you on Isaac and our life in Iowa.
